NO3D sc sensor provides economical, continuous trending of nitrate levels to control the nitrogen removal process in aeration basins in municipal wastewater treatment plants with less than 30% industrial waste. Exclusively from Hach, the NO3D sc offers a new approach to ion-selective electrode technology with CARTRICAL(TM) which reduces interferences.
The NO3D sc sensor uses an ion-selective electrode (ISE) to detect nitrate ions (NO3-) directly in the process as nitrate nitrogen (NO3-N). Included in the NO3D sc sensor are a pHD (differential pH) electrode as the reference electrode-providing superior stability-and a chloride ISE.
The most significant potential interference in wastewater matrices is from chloride ions (Cl-). The NO3D sc sensor compensates by using the chloride ISE to correct the nitrate value. Potential interferences are further reduced using CARTRICAL(TM) technology. The CARTRICAL procedure calibrates each electrode individually and also calibrates all three electrodes to each other. A temperature sensor is also included to compensate for interference from temperature changes.
The NO3D sc sensor is designed for immersion directly in the process eliminating the need for sample preparation. It installs quickly outdoors without special housing. The sensor can easily be relocated to various locations for greater knowledge about the process.
