There's something to be said for simplicity, and Hansen's Permanent Magnet DC Motors are refreshingly simple in their design. DC motors were among the first motors commercially produced. Hansen Permanent Magnet DC Motors retain the features of this time-honored design and add in the benefits of modern engineering.

The Permanent Magnet DC Motors produce higher torque than wound field motors. The low-mass rotors are especially good at delivering high start torque with low inertia loads. These performance characteristics, coupled with the DC motor's inherent high efficiencies, are ideal in DC drives. Like all DC motors, Hansen's can be easily reversed by simply switching polarity.

We've also employed modern technology to minimize the less appealing performance aspects of DC motors. For example, we've reduced torque ripple in our Series 16 and Series 21 motors to minimize cogging. Options such as noise suppressors and optical encoders further enhance performance. Gear boxes are also available with the Series 16 motor.

The Series 148 line of DC Gear Motors takes the simple design and outstanding torque performance of the Permanent Magnet DC Motors and combines them with Hansen's proven Synchron gear train and permanently lubricated, sintered bearings. These high-efficiency, low-cost DC Gear Motors have long brush life, five mounting configurations, and a wide variety of gear ratios.
