Well, for starters, GFS began manufacturing high purity acids in 1956. Then, in response to a request from chemists analyzing lunar samples brought back on the Apollo space missions, we scaled-up our production in the 1960's. By using specially designed stills, we were able to provide the highest quality acid available, containing virtually no trace contaminants whatsoever. Ongoing refinements to our acid distillation technologies allow us to keep our product purity in line with advancing instrumental capabilities and ever lower detection limits. With each step, our acid becomes more and more pure. We take the best acids and make them better! When we began making high purity acids in the mid-1950's, we learned that simply doing multiple distillations would not produce the parts per trillion impurity levels we were in search of. High Purity Acid production is an art, but it is an art form which we have perfected. Today, these acids are used extensively all over the world in such analytical applications as stabilization of environmental samples, trace elementanalysis and numerous other applications which require consistently High Purity Acids. We also provide bulk packaging options for process applications requiring specific impurity profiles such as etchants and chemical machining planarization. Pinnacle (PPB) & Veritas Trilion (PPT) Mineral Acids GFS has been redistilling mineral acids for use in analytical chemistry labs for over sixty years. Chemists with very exacting requirements have always felt free to contact us about their special needs. GFS begins manufacture of all our Trace Metal Grade acid by starting with the finest ACS reagent acid available. If the market doesn't offer acids of sufficient purity, we'll make them. Today's rapidly advancing technology means the demand for these grades of acids will continue to expand at a rapid pace.Along with this increased demand for acids, a growing awareness of the need for Trace Metal Documentation is prevalent in modern analytical instrumentation. We offer the above analysis documentation for our Trace Metal Grade acids. Packaging GFS offers numerous options ranging in size and bottle type. A glass bottle is typical packaging for ACS and ACS Superior acids. We also use a variety of fluorinated bottles to maintain the integrity of our higher purity acids. We strive to remain current with today's high purity packaging options and welcome your suggestions on options to meet your needs. GFS works with many customers who provide packaging for unique applications. From bottles to drums to totes, we are committed to maintaining the highest quality acids. Packaged in Teflon® Our Double Distilled Acids are packaged in pre-soaked Teflon® bottles. Not only do these Teflon® bottles impart no impurities to the acid, they are also very easy to use, are easily resealed to ensure product integrity, and can be returned for bottle credit against your next acid order. 1. Reagent First, we start with the finest ACS reagent grade acids available 2. ACS Superior Enhanced trace metal impurity limits are certified for uses where both high purity and economy are essential 3. Pinnacle PPB Next, we slowly redistill the reagent grade in specially designed glass stills, to produce acid with very low or absent trace elements, commonly called PPB grade acids 4. Environmental A full trace metal scan (ICP) is provided for redistilled acids specially packaged in fluoro polymer bottles. This special packaging maintains the trace element consistency of B, Si, Ca, Al, and other elements commonly found in glass bottles while maintaining economical pricing compared to packaging in Teflon® bottles 5. Veritas® Trilion Finally, we produce our highest purity product from our redistilled grade acids, commonly called PPT grade acids. Distillation is done through custom made Vycor®/Quartz stills or our new Teflon® still. This step virtually removes remaining trace metal contaminants and nearly all of the volatile and nonvolatile impurities. Acids retain their purity through packaging in Teflon® bottles.
