The Hitachi AMN1220 ITU-T standards-based GPON product family supports the delivery of RF/IP video, VoIP/POTS voice, and high-speed data services.
The system is composed of the Optical Line terminal (OLT), normally located in the service provider's central office or headend. The OLT is connected on the network side to the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) as will as IP (Internet Protocol) sources for video and data traffic.
On the subscriber side, the OLT connects to Optical Network terminals (ONTs) located at the subscribers' premises. The OLT and ONTs are connected by a passive optical network architecture that requires no active components between the central office and the subscriber, minimizing costs for power, climate control and maintenance.
AMN1220 OLT
The AMN1220 OLT provides a full complement of FTTx functions, distributing triple play services to up to 1,024 subscribers per OLT at a 1:32 split ration (expandable to 2.048 subscribers at a 1:64 split). The AMN1220 features a built0in Layer 2/3 TEM switch fabric, available in 24Gbps or 48Gbps versions. Up to 96Gbps of capacity can be provided. The switch fabric can be deployed in either an unprotected configuration or as 1:1 protected pairs.

AMN1220 GST
The AMn1220 GST is a hardened Optical Network Terminal (ONT) designed to be deployed on the exterior of a home or business. The GST terminates a single fiber from the central office or headend, and supports multiple combinations of data, voice, and video services to the end user. A battery backup unit can be equipped to meet lifeline voice requirements.
The data port on the AMN1220 GST can operate at 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX or 1000BASE-T. The 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX rates are scaled for typical home use, while the GbE capability provides robust bandwidth for large file transfers and multi-user applications.
For applications in which RF video is to be provided – for example, when video services are being provided from a cable TV operator's headend, the AMn1220 GST supports "legacy" triple play, in which all services arrive at the residence via the single fiber network infrastructure, but are converted to their legacy delivery media at the residence. Thus, existing house wiring is used to provide video over coaxial cable, POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) voice over standard twisted pair cabling, and data over Category 5 cabling. Further leveraging existing in-hom cabling, the AMN1220 is available with an optional MoCA (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) interface. The GST can be provided without an RF interface in applications in which only IP video is to be delivered.

AMN1220 GMT
The AMN1220 GMT is a hardened ONT that can be tailored to multiple applications through the use of application-specific circuit packs. Available interfaces include standard voice (POTS), Ethernet (10BASE-T/100BASE-T), Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T), T1 (TDM), and RF video.
The 8-port POTS modules provide the same functionality as the voice interfaces on the AMN1220 GST single family/single business terminal, providing consistency of services across the network. IDC or bulk Amphenol connectors are provided on the POTS module to allow simple installation of voice circuits.
MDU Applications
In multi-dwelling unit (MDU) applications, the AMN1220 GMT can be equipped with up to 24 voice (POTS) ports and 12 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet ports. An optional RF video port can be provided on the GMT main module. This provides a high output (33dBm) RF signal that can be split among multiple end users.
MTU Applications
Business applications include Multi-Tenant Unit (MTU) situations in which multiple small businesses are supported in a multi-tenant building or office park setting, and single medium businesses. Data services that can be provided by the AMN1220 GMT include up to 12 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX ports and one Gigabit Ethernet port. Up to four T1 circuits can be provided, serving as voice and data network-side circuits for an enterprise telephone system such as a PBX (Private Branch Exchange).
