O2 Concentrator Valve Assembly

O2 Concentrator Valve Assembly

A manufacturer of O2 concentrators for in-home oxygen therapy wanted a unit that would simultaneously fill portable bottles while supplying the patient. In addition, size and weight restrictions dictated that the assembly would have to be "wedged" into an extremely tight space, creating concerns about overheating. Humphrey developed an assembly that delivered 20% higher flow with minimal heat generation. Humphrey's Engineered Solutions team redesigned its proven 320 Series valve using a large diameter piston for greater flow. Instead of using the solenoid to drive the high-flow 320 series poppet, Humphrey's Engineered Solutions Team incorporated the proven Mini-Mizer valve as a pilot operator. This resulted in a high flow valve with low current consumption, and enabled reliable operation down to 5-7psi. Working peer-to-peer with the customer's engineers also enabled Humphrey's Engineered Solutions Team to locate the manifold in the air stream for maximum cooling.

The modified Humphrey 320 Series valve with the Mini-Mizer retained all the characteristics of the company's standard valves, including low current consumption to reduce heat, the proven poppet design that requires no lubrication and is not affected by impurities in the air, and proven high reliability. A complete case history is available by requesting CH-CH1.
