Moxa's new AWK-3121 is a 3-in-1 industrial wireless AP/Bridge/Client that supports more IEEE 802.11 standards and higher security levels, including wireless communication in the 5 GHz bandwidth. The AWK-3121 is WPA2-enabled and highly secure for wireless networks that use Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) technology. Attractive features include redundant DC power inputs, Power-over-Ethernet, RS-232 console management, 2 digital inputs and 1 relay output, and a wide operating temperature range from -40° to 75°C.
The convenience of being able to connect devices without the use of wires has led to the unprecedented success of wireless technologies in the commercial sector and these same technologies are beginning to appear in various industrial environments. Choosing Moxa for your industrial wireless solutions offers a number of key benefits, including mobility, flexibility, wider coverage, and cost savings. We understand that there are concerns over the confidentiality of data communication being transmitted over the air, and in answer to these concerns, we have built the appropriate security protocols into the product.
Maximum Security
The IEEE 802.11 standard specifies a way to use radio frequency (RF) technology to send Ethernet packets over the air. The AWK-3121 provides higher security levels for enhanced safety of authentication and authorization. Security features include 802.11X/RADIUS (Remote Authentication User Dial-In Service), AES, TKIP support and the ability to disable SSID broadcasts. In addition, IP packet filters can help wireless users filter out vicious attacks from hackers. In addition to WEP, Moxa's AWK-3121 also offers WPA/WPA2 capabilities that use Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) technology. The AWK-3121 provides stronger security suitable for industries that require highly secure wireless networks.
Greater Reliability
The AWK-3121 is designed to be used with Ethernet-ready devices to provide ready access to a wireless LAN. To increase the reliability of wireless networks, the AWK-3121 can support PoE and two redundant power inputs. In addition, the AWK-3121 is equipped with two digital inputs and one relay output for on-site monitoring and warning, and supports STP/RSTP (IEEE802.1D/w) to prevent network looping and increase system availability with a redundant path for greater reliability. We engineered the RS-232 console management to provide greater flexibility onsite, and to give users an IP-free management option.
Robust Design
The new AWK-3121 is a 3-in-1 device that supports the IEEE 802.11a/b/g standards as a wireless access point, bridge, or client; you can avoid interference by using 802.11a and the uncrowded 5 GHz band. Installation is easy for both DIN-rail mounting and wall mounting. The AWK-3121 offers wide temperature operation from -40 to 75°C (for -T model).
