CORROSION RESISTANT DEWATERING PUMPS

CORROSION RESISTANT DEWATERING PUMPS

ITT Flygt Corp., Trumbull, CT has recently introduced its latest generation of stainless steel submersible dewatering and solids-handling pumps. The pumps join the time proven slim design Model BS-2750, yielding a full line of corrosive handling pumps.

ITT Flygt's corrosion resistant submersible pumps in the new series are designed to be extremely wear resistant, robust and easy to maintain. Ordinary submersible pumps are designed to be used in the pH range of 5-8. The entire stainless steel line of dewatering pumps by Flygt operate in the pH range of 2-10, making them ideal for acid mine drainage, wash water sumps in pickling bath processes in the steel industry, as well as many other corrosive environments.

Model BS-2740 operates on three-phase 230/460/575 V, and is rated at 9 HP. The high-head BS-2740 develops up to 150 feet of head, delivering up to 250 GPM of liquid, while the standard version pumps up to 600 GPM. The BS-2740 has a standard 4" NPT discharge, while the high-head version is equipped with a 3" NPT discharge. All pumps are supplied with a 50 ft. power cable.

Model BS-2740, a high-performance pump designed for corrosive liquid pumping is made entirely of stainless steel, has a slim design (11-inch diameter) and can be used for active dewatering in tight spaces. Ideal applications include mines and quarries, and the steel and power, pulp and paper, food and beverage, and chemical industries. The pump is also suitable for any other pumping job where the pH is low or unpredictable.

Rounding out the line of rugged dewatering pumps are the solids-handling DS-2730 and the DS-2740, both which handle corrosive liquids with a pH range of 2-10, making them ideal for applications in mines and quarries, and the steel and power, pulp and paper, food and beverage, and chemical industries. The wet end of the DS-2730 and 2740 can pass solids as large as 1-3/4", utilizing a vortex impeller.

The DS-2730 delivers up to 6.5 HP, while the DS-2740 delivers up to 9 HP. The 2730 has a capacity of 500 GPM. The high-head DS-2740 develops up to 78 feet of head, delivering 220 GPM.

The pump features two independent silicon carbide mechanical seals running in FDA approved non-toxic lubricant. A class F insulated motor, operating in air, is safer, more efficient, and easier to service than oil-filled motors. The motor can deliver up to 15 starts per hour, and has built-in thermal sensors for overload protection. All pumps in the line feature nitrile rubber lined wear parts, and have a convenient carrying handle.
