RoHS: Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive went in effect on July 1st, 2006. This directive bans placing new electrical and electronic equipment on the EU market that contains more than agreed levels of mercury, lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. China RoHS: Also known as the Administrative Measure on the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products. All items shipped to China must be marked as to whether the items contained in the box are compliant or non-compliant. The Electronic Information Products (EIP) logo or other label is used to mark parts and assemblies that do not contain unacceptable amounts of substances identified by the regulations, and that are environmentally safe. Units that do contain hazardous substances are marked with the EIP logo including an Environmental Protection Use Period (EPUP) value in years. WEEE: The Waste from Electrical & Electronic Equipment Directive is the European Community directive 2002/96/EC on waste electrical and electronic equipment which, together with the RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, became European Law in February 2003, setting collection, recycling and recovery targets for all types of electrical goods.
