VELOMAT ASSEMBLES OR PACKAGES PARTS UP TO SIX TIMES FASTER At 120 cycles per minute or faster, the cam-operated Velomat chassis assembles parts up to six times faster than comparable pneumatic systems, and it does so with smooth, gentle motions, and at a very affordable price. But price and cycle times are just the start. It's also a labor saver. The Velomat is a pre-engineered, modular system that arrives at your door fully assembled. Personnel start adding tooling and fixtures the moment it arrives, saving months of design and machine building time. And for the future, retooling and reprogramming the Velomat for new or modified parts can be done in just days. Programming time, too, is at a minimum. Pneumatic systems require solenoid valves at each cylinder, as well as proximity switches to read the end of the stroke. In addition, the typical pneumatic machine will have two air cylinders at each station. This, in turn, can lead to complex programming of more than a hundred elements on a typical 12-station machine. Velomat, on the other hand, programs easily with a programmable cam switch and a hand-operated crank that cycles the machine through all stations for easier set-up and debugging. An encoder monitors the table's and module's positions. A simple press of the button enters the data. After that, it's plug it in, and start it up. The Velomat rotary chassis (linear configurations are also available) can be specified with as many as 24 stations, with indexing accuracy of 0.002" in the smaller 6 to 12 station chassis, and 0.003" accuracy in the larger 16 to 24 station chassis. The impressive 22 lb weight capacity of the handling modules, generously long vertical and horizontal strokes, and 38" diameter rotary table are suitable for assembling or packaging a wide variety of items. Each chassis is equipped with a rugged cam indexer that transforms the rotary input drive into the table's precision indexing motion. The indexing table is supported by large diameter, crossed roller bearings and withstands high radial and axial forces. A hardened globoidal cam is ground to assure superior wear resistance, while pre-loaded cam followers provide high positioning accuracy. The chassis can be specified with dual, electromechanically synchronized 1-1/2 Hp, 3 phase motors -- one to operate the indexing table, the other to control the handling modules. This array provides greater flexibility in cycle times resulting in improved productivity in most applications. An economical, mechanically synchronized single-motor chassis is also available. Velomat's handling modules can be positioned at every station in the 6 to 12 station chassis, or at every other station of the 16 to 24 station chassis. Trajectories of the end effectors are available with L-, C- asymmetric C- and rectangular-trajectories, or with horizontal- and vertical-run. Strokes are 2.3" vertically and 5.9" horizontally. Overload protection is available on the vertical strokes. The Velomat line is available from ITI Automation, Ramsey, NJ.
