Laser cladding (or Laser Metal Deposition) is a method by which a powdered or wire feedstock material is melted and consolidated by use of a laser. the most common technique is LAP® (or Laser applied Powder) - Metallic powder with the use of a laser produces what is known as a melt pool. The melt pool is deposited onto a substrate and allowed to flow and solidify and produces a track of solid metal.

Laser applied Wire LAW® - involves moving the laser/nozzle assembly over a the part to produce solidified tracks and this process is controlled by a CAD System. This allows the interpolation solid metal into a set groves that then produce the desired part.
