The KOBOLD KAL Flow Switch is the ideal device for providing consistent, low-flow pump protection for pumps used in cooling circuits, circulating systems and feed water supplies. The KAL electronic flow switch continuously monitors the flow of water using the time-proven calorimetric (thermal) principle and is especially suited for use in installations where minimal pressure loss and no moving parts are desired. The KAL's one-piece, single body stainless steel sensor ensures absolute leak integrity and offers a seamless surface to which liquid borne contaminants cannot easily attach themselves. High strength is another advantage inherent in this design allowing use at high pressures, and virtually eliminating any chance of mechanical damage. The microprocessor-based design of the KAL is what distinguishes it from the competition. This unique, state-of-the-art technology ensures a stable switch point even when there are temperature variations in the process liquid. Full temperature compensation of the switch point is readily obtained through a simple 2-step calibration procedure. The KAL features an electronic flow trend indicator and bi-colored LED switch status light. Maximum process temperature and pressure is 250°F and 1450 PSIG respectively. The KAL is equipped with either a standard 1/2" or 3/4" NPT fitting and feature a standard nylon NEMA 4 enclosure or an optional aluminum enclosure. Extended length sensing tips are available for use in large pipes up to 20" in diameter. Standard input voltage is 24 VDC @ 300 mA maximum, with user-selectable PNP or NPN type N/O output suitable for PLC use, or optional 110 VAC with N/O dry contact.
