Since July 2003, electrical equipment and protective systems that operate in areas where there is risk of explosion have been subjected to the new European Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX 100a). K-Tron has responded to the new regulations with a series of hazardous area options for most models of feeders manufactured by the company.

The type certificate and the certification of the manufacturing process now satisfy the rigorous stipulations of the new Directive 94/9 EG (ATEX 100a) in full measure. K-Tron offers valuable expertise and support in planning in the Ex equipment of industrial weighing and feeding technology. In North America, feeders are designed to meet the NEC code for hazardous areas.
