K-Tron MT12 Twin Screw Microfeeder: Volumetric or Gravimetric Feeding of Bulk Materials at Extremely Low Rates
The K-Tron MT12 Microfeeder has been specially designed to provide maximum accuracy at minimal feed rates, which makes it ideal for use in the chemical and pharmaceutical processing industries.
Unique desing features ensure that high value ingredients are fed accurately at rates as low as 20 g/hr with minimal residual material left in feeder. The modular design means more flexibility for the process and easy access to all parts for cleaning and maintenance. The 12 mm twin screw design can feed a wide range of free-flowing to difficult powders.
Available in both pharmaceutical and industrial models, the MT12 will accurately feed free flowing to difficult to handle powders at rates as low as 20 grams / hour and as high as 2000 grams/ hour, depending on material and installation environment. Both loss-in-weight (model K-CL-24-MT-12) and volumetric (model K-CV-MT-12) feeder models will be available for continuous or batch operation.
The compact feeder is designed for ease of disassembly, allowing fast and easy cleaning. The feeder design also allows the feeder bowl to discharge almost completely when emptying, leaving minimal amounts of residual material. Models meeting European ATEX and USA Hazardous Area standards are planned.
The 24 kilogram scale for loss-in-weight models can be installed with an optional draft shield, as is customarily the practice when weighing at very low rates. Typical applications for the micro feeder include feeding jet mills, tablet presses, continuous extrusion processes and any application where expensive micro ingredients require accurate feeding.
Design Features
For gravimetric applications, the complete MT12 is mounted on a platform scale utilizing high performance digital Smart Force Transducer weighing technology. Key features include an integrated microprocessor and digital filtering software to suppress environmental vibrations.
