Product Announcement from KEYENCE
3-Axis Beam Control Revolutionizes Laser Marking
Introducing the KEYENCE MD-V9900 series, a high-speed, high quality YVO4 laser marker that has the ability to mark not only in the X and Y direction, but also in the Z direction. This unique 3-axis motion allows for a multitude of advantages, such as a 42-mm variable focal length, distortion-free 300x300mm marking area, and the ability to clearly mark on difficult shapes (cylinders, cones, inclined planes). The MD-V9000 also offers a Dual End Pumping Cavity and unprecedented power stability, both which contribute to marking quality and laser life.
The 3- axis motion of the MD-V allows for outstanding visibility on deformed or curved surfaces. You can mark on inclines, cylinders or circular cones at speeds up to 12,000mm/s without compromising character clarity. With the MD-V's variable focal length, maximum spot position can be set at any focal length within a 42mm range. This range of focal length significantly reduces installation time and cost by eliminating the need for a mechanical stage that adjusts during product changeovers, or when it is necessary to mark products of varying heights.
The 300 x 300-mm wide marking area of the MD-V is largest in its class. Marking in large areas often requires moving a target work piece using an X-Y stage, or switching the lens on a conventional laser to create a wide marking area. Using an X-Y stage increases integration costs and time, and also decreases product throughput. A wide area lens can help these problems; however, characters are often displaced or blurred at the edge of the marking area.
The MD-V series utilizes a special lens system along with its unique 3-axis control to create this highly accurate 300 x 300-mm wide marking area, eliminating the need for mechanical adjustment while maintaining character integrity.
The MD-V series comes equipped with the newly developed Dual End Pumping Cavity (DEPC). This new technology improves the optical exchange efficiency to double that of conventional markers. The higher efficiency means that the diode has to use less current to generate equivalent power, thus reducing energy consumption while increasing the diode's life (3 times longer then conventional markers).

Product features:
DEPC-Dual End Pumping Cavity-World's First
Provides double the power of conventional systems…
The MD-V9900 Series is equipped with the newly developed DEPC (Dual End Pumping Cavity). The DEPC significantly improves the optical exchange efficiency compared to that of a traditional end pumping system. This higher efficiency means that the diode has to use less current to generate the equivalent power, reducing energy consumption and increasing diode life.
High peak power with ultra-short pulse width-World's First
Sharp marking without damaging the product…
With a peak power of 100kW (triple the peak power of conventional systems), the MD-V9900 can achieve sharp, high quality marking on hardened surfaces. This 100kW is also generated with an incredibly small pulse width, reducing the possibility of thermal damage to the target surface.
Single Mode Beam Spot-Best in its class
High-quality laser beam creates clear contrast on a wide range of materials…
The MD-V utilizes an end-pumping YV04 laser system that generates an ideal laser beam. Conventional systems are forced to employ a multi-mode laser, leading to fluctuations in laser power and target quality. Single mode laser's concentrate the beam to provide high quality marking on a wide range of surfaces.
Ultra-high pulse recurrence frequency 400kHz-World's largest range
Smooth marking is possible on high-speed production lines…
The MD-V9900 Series employs a Q switch frequency more than double that of previous KEYENCE lasers. The high frequency enables smooth marking of fine resolutions on high speed production lines. Both continuous wave and pulse oscillation are available to accommodate varying surface conditions.
42-mm variable focal length-World's first
Significantly reduces setup time and man hours…
The 3-Axis laser control (X, Y and Z-axes) sets the maximum spot position at any focal length. The focal length can be set within a 42mm range without attenuating the flatness of the marking area.
Variable spot size- World's first
Defocusing without changing the size of the characters or marking position…
Varying the spot size of the laser is helpful when trying to enhance the contrast of characters on specific materials, or engrave more deeply into the target surface. Typical defocus techniques may cause varying character size and position. The MD-V can provide an exceptionally uniform quality of characters.
300 x300-mm wide marking area-Largest in its class
Covers a wide area without attenuating the laser accuracy…
Marking in a large area often requires moving a target workpiece using an X-Y stage, or switching the lens on a conventional laser to create a wide marking area. Using an X-Y stage increases integration costs and time, and also decreases product throughput. A wide area lens can help these problems, however characters are often displaced or blurred at the edge of the marking area. The MD-V9900 Series utilizes a special lens system along with its unique 3-axis control to create a highly accurate 300 x 300-mm wide marking area, eliminating the need for mechanical adjustment while maintaining character integrity.
3-axis marking with outstanding visibility
Precise marking on irregular target surfaces…
The MD-V9900 Series features 3-Axis control to modify the laser position according to the shape of a target, which can include steps, inclined surfaces, cylinders or circular cones. The MD-V9900 Series minimizes distorted, worn or chipped characters while enabling uniform marking on three-dimensional surfaces that are considered untouchable by conventional markers.
