Doug Wysong, Chief Engineer for FINN faced a challenge. He wanted to replace the enclosures used to protect the controls on machines produced by his company. Specifically, he needed an enclosure that could survive better against impact, abrasion, UV degradation, and temperature extremes indicative of the outdoor environment. Also: he wanted to eliminate the need to paint enclosures, a costly and time-taking characteristic of his existing enclosure products.
For a solution Mr. Wysong turned to Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures for advice. Stahlin suggested use of its fiberglass enclosures products due to their proven history to outperform metal enclosures in similar environments.
His evaluation of Stahlin's performance?
"The Stahlin enclosures are easier to work with," said Mr. Wysong. "They stand up to the abuse of the brutal outdoor environment better than the metal enclosures we were using. I am especially impressed by the UV protection provided by the product."
According to Teresa Ramirez, Stahlin's National Sales Manager,
" Stahlin's non-metallic enclosure is ideal for FINN because they provide a superior strength-to-weight ratio, outstanding insulating properties, flame retardancy, impact, temperature and UV resistance. Ramirez notes that the exceptional UV-protection offered by Stahlin enclosures is the result of SolarGuard® a new, proprietary double-protection material formulation technology that significantly enhances the molecular bond strength and crosslinking that occurs during the curing process. This technology was developed at Stahlin's FormRight lab in Belding, Michigan and is the current standard formulation for all products. SolarGuard®, in an independent lab comparison testing, outperformed other available molding compound formulations by as much as 60% in its ability to retain gloss and color after exposure to concentrated UV light.
