The optical fiber receiver from MAZeT is intended for optical data transmission via polymer fibers (POF) of 980/1000µm, HCS fibers of 200/230µm, gradient index glass fibers of 50/125µm or 62.5/125µm fiber diameter and single mode glass fibers of 9/125µm, thus covering almost the entire area of industrial field bus communications.
High sensitivity and a bandwidth of 0 to 25MHz are the distinguishing features of this component which has been developed for use in industrial field bus applications with transmission of information via optical fiber cable. The receiver is rated for working with four optical windows and allows a broad range of applications. Initial applications in Interbus and Profibus couplers are envisaged.
With a great dynamic optical range of 0dBm to –30.2dBm, it is clearly distinguished from known standard receivers. An outstanding feature is the extension in transmission lengths, e.g. to 100m for polymer fibers (650nm standard LED), to 150m with 520nm LEDs and to more than 5000m with 850nm standard LEDs for multimode glass fibers.
Typical applications of the LWL-DMA25 are networking industrial field bus systems. It will excellently perform in 18 Mbit/s SERCOS and all kinds of Interbus applications. Developed for non-compromising DC compliance, the LWL-DMA25 also perfectly fits Profibus scenarios.
With a hybrid concept that includes optical receivers for 520nm, 650nm, 850nm and 1300nm for higher flexibility, the LWL-DMA25 can also be used as basic tool in optical sensor arrangements. Position and location sensing with and without fiber connector is as realistic a field of application as are sensor jobs in medical engineering.
