For over 30 years, Minteq Pyrogenics Group has provided sprayable intumescence FIREX™ coatings that absorb and reject thermal energy in a controlled and predictable manner.

Backed by analytical modeling based on extensive test correlations, we can model applications and predict the results to help guide the material selection process.

FIREX™ coatings are used to "buy time" ... critical time... for the containment and suppression of thermal threats to personnel, equipment, and structures. These coatings are also used to protect surfaces exposed to high thermal flux and aerodynamic shear. When exposed to flames, the coatings intumesces (swell) 10 times its dry-film thickness to create a protective barrier against heat.

Tested extensively by the U.S. military, the FIREX™ coatings offer unprecedented protection and adhere to most any surface including metals, wood, paper, and glass. They readily accept a top coat of paint and are available in kit form in cans and drums. The entire FIREX™ product family is water resistant and cures at room temperature.

Over the years FIREX™ coatings have been utilized in numerous applications requiring fire and thermal protection. Those applications include ships, tanks, military vehicles, shelters, aircraft, and space vehicles and are especially protective in a jet fuel environment. Now they are available for chemical, oil and gas, and other applications.
