Rings

MWI divisions utilize both coiling and stamping processes to manufacture rings with diameters up to 40 inches. Coiled rings can be produced from round or shaped wire. Our in-house wire shape rolling and ring grinding capabilities enable us to provide close tolerance rings while minimizing raw material lead-time. Our proprietary shot peening process for light rings has improved the fatigue life of or rings many times over, enabling some of our customers to improve product life without costly re-design of their assembly. MW Industries offers ID and OD retaining rings in a variety of end configurations: butterfly, angle, rounded and square.

Retaining Rings

Retaining rings, also known as snap rings, primary function is to position or retain parts on shafts or in cylinders. Internal retaining rings are used inside cylinders whereas the external retaining rings are installed over shafts. Usually retaining rings are made from steel but materials such as stainless steel, inconel and other spring type materials can be specified.

MW Industries utilizes both coiling and stamping processes to manufacture retaining rings. Different end configurations such as rounded, square, butterfly or angle can be specified. Coiled rings can be produced from round or shaped wire. MW Industries in-house wire shape rolling and ring grinding capabilities enable us to provide close tolerance rings while minimizing cost and leadtimes. Normally thrust loads are low but in extreme applications fatigue failures arise. MW Industries has developed a proprietary process that increases fatigue life many times over, which eliminates costly redesign of the end product.
