M.S.C. specializes in the engineering & manufacturing of roll coating machinery used for the application of adhesives or coatings to sheet and roll materials. M.S.C. gluing machines for cold glue range from a 6" wide label cementer to a 60" wide topside coater. For hot melt adhesive applications we manufacture roll coaters from a 3" wide open end hot melt coater to a 40" wide machines. Our machines can be used for the application of coatings & glue including water based adhesives, latex cement, solvent base glue, hot animal glue, hotmelt adhesive, & ultraviolet cured coating. These adhesive systems have been used in a wide variety of converting industries including: packaging, automotive, aerospace, alternative energy, electronics, fluid sealing & general converting.

Listed below are the adhesive coating systems we currently have available:

Hot Melt Roll Coaters : The RT hot melt roll coater is used to apply hot melt adhesives to sheets of materials up to 40" wide. This machine is equipped with a powered feedroll system for coating thin parts and wide sheets. The feedroll can be released and pivoted out of the way to make the RT and open-roller machine for coating hand held parts. The feedroll system on the RT is adjustable to allow coating of parts as thin as .020" and as thick as 6".

Top-Side Coaters : Topside coaters apply the adhesive to the top surface of the part where as most coating systems apply adhesive to the bottom surface. This features allows glued parts to be handled by the dry surface area which make this machine ideal for conveyorized gluing & coating lines. The topside coater can be used for the application of water-based adhesives, latex cement, solvent cements & UV coating applications. Available in 6 different widths from 10"-15"-26"-38"-50"-60".

Thermo-Edge Folders : Our computerized thermo edge folding machines are used to fold and at the same time cement the edge of the product to give it a clean, finished look. These machines are commonly used for leather goods, sun visors, door panels and similar interior components.

Sheet Cementers : Sheet Cementers are adhesive roller coating machines that are used to apply a thin layer of adhesive to the bottom surface of sheet materials. The primary application for this type of cementing machine is gluing large labels or printed sheets for mounting to corrugated, chipboard and foam core boards. Sheet cementing machines are available with several different feed roller arrangemens for application of adhesive to parts from paper thickness to 4" thick, and are available in coating roller widths from 18"-50".

Edge Coaters : Edge Coaters are gluing machines designed for the adhesive application along the edge of a part. This type of roll coating machine has an open end (cantilevered) roller that allow adhesive applications to either the edge of a sheet or to the full surface of the product. The edge coaters are available in four widths: 3", 8", 11" & 15".

Smoothing Press (Lamination) : The smoothing press is a rotary lamination station used to squeeze an adhesive coated sheet or substrate. It is designed for the lamination of sheets that are coated with wet adhesive or contact cement, but can also be used for the lamination of sheets using film adhesives. The laminating smoothing press has a fixed lower roller and a floating upper roller. This machine can also be placed in-line with our adhesive coating systems to form a complete laminating line. Standard widths available from 18"-24"-32"-45"-50" and 62". Custom sizes available upon request.

Adhesive Recirculation Systems : Adhesive recirculation systems are an accessory that can be fitted to most types of roll coating machines. An adhesive recirculation system offers several advantages over the standard approach of using only a shallow tank to hold adhesive:

• Minimizes the effects of water evaporation from the adhesive
• Minimizes the tendency for adhesive to form a "skin" in the corners of the glue tank.
• Allows less frequent refilling.

Custom Adhesive Coating Systems : M.S.C. can often modify the standard adhesive roll coaters and smoothing press to fulfill special requirements. We are able to connect machines to conveyor systems or link machines so they can laminate parts or transfer them to secondary operations.

A number of modifications can be made to adhesive roll coaters. Machines can be modified to:

• Apply a stripe of adhesive or coating
• Apply mutiple stripes of adhesive or coating
• Coat thick parts such as foam blocks
• Apply heavey coating using a knurled roll
• Apply dots of adhesive
• Coat parts and then laminate them to release paper
• Glue and laminate rigid sheet to a flexible sheet such as foam, cloth or release paper
• Coat a web of material
• Custom widths and conifgurations
