Maxon's new DEC 50/5 is a digital servo-amplifier designed for velocity, torque, or open loop control of brushless motors. PWM at 39 kHz insures compatibility with most motors. Designed for brushless motors equipped with Hall effect sensors, the DEC 50/5 is capable of driving motors 120,000 RPM (for 2-pole motors). Requiring a supply voltage of 10 to 50 V DC, the servo-amplifier can deliver 95% of the supply voltage to the motor at 5 A continuous current or 10 A peak current.
Velocity can be controlled via internal or external pots, or via an external voltage, and driection, disable, and brake funstions may be activated with extrenal switches. The DEC 50/5 also has an adjustable speed ramp. Ambient temerature range is -10° to 45° C, (-14° to 113° F) for operation, and -40° to 85° C, (-40° to 185° F) for storage. Weighing in at 155g (5.5 oz), the compact servo-amplifier measures 95 X 75 X 24 mm (3.7 X 3 X 1 in).
