The FiberCare™ family of cleaning products has (today) four major products. These include: Fiber Optic Connector Cleaner II This cleaner is based on new solvent technology from DuPont. It has been specifically engineered for cleaning fiber optic connector end-faces within the alignment sleeves. As such, it delivers reliable, repeatable and cost-effective cleaning of all fiber optic connectors, in any location and environment. It will remove dust, oil, salts, fingerprints, sheetrock particulate and lint from connectors. Compatible with all types of metals, substrates and rugged plastics. Ozone-safe. Good toxicity ratings. No aroma. Easily out-cleans alcohol. PLUS: the unique TravelSAFE™ package makes it easy to store, ship and use the high-purity optical-grade fluid. Fiber Optic Cleaning Sticks Micro Care offers a whole family of sintered swabs optimized for fiber optic connectors (see one example in the photo). These nibs are based on a unique, thermally-sintered polymer which is molded, not hand-wound. This enables each stick to wick up more contamination and trap more particulate than fabric-style swabs (and with none of the drawbacks of foam-type swabs). The tips have been specifically engineered to conform to connector end-face surfaces including low-reflective angled connectors. Different sizes are available for different connector types. Packaged in convenient, color-coded travel kits, these sticks deliver the highest rate of successful cleaning in the industry, saving time and money. Important benefits include:
- The molded design (as opposed to a foam stick or a wrapped fabric stick) ensures a perfect fit with end-face and alignment sleeves
- Since the cleaning head of each FiberCare stick is a single, fibrous material without glues or central post, the cleaning heads conform very tightly to end-face geometry, even domed or beveled fiber end-faces
- The thermally-sintered polymer tip eliminates contamination from fibers, glues, out-gassing or blowing agents.
- Because the tips are molded, not wrapped, they offer excellent dimensional stability for consistent and repeatable cleaning.
- Because the nibs are narrower than the ferrule, the nib spins off-center, providing more cleaning at the core of the fiber
Optical Fiber Preparation Fluid (For Cleaning Prior to Fusion Splicing) Micro Care's new Optical Fiber Preparation Fluid is engineered to provide a nonflammable, environmentally-safe alternative for cleaning fibers prior to termination or fusion splicing and for cleaning connector end-faces after polishing. Customers also usually opt for Micro Care's unique Saturator™ dispensing top (the silver disk on top of the can in the photo), for easy one-handed wetting. Because the solvent is powerful but fast-drying and nonflammable, it easily removes particulate, fingerprint oils, salts and other residues. No retraining is required: the fiber "squeaks" when the fiber is clean, just like it does with alcohol, so this is a great IPA replacement. Packaged in unique, spill-proof TravelSAFE™ containers, the nonhazardous Fiber Prep Fluid can be shipped with the equipment so technicians can go right to work rather than wasting time trying to source IPA locally. Fiber Optic Wipes FiberWipe™ papers from Micro Care are lint-free wipes are made of DuPont's ultra-pure, lint-free, hydroentangled polyester fabric and have been specifically engineered for the fiber optics industry. Each FiberWipe™ is stronger, but softer, more absorbent and much, much cleaner than traditional cellulose wipes. FiberWipes™ are used for cleaning optical fibers after stripping for termination or fusion splicing. They also are used for cleaning connector end-faces. With nearly perfect absorbency, these wipes lift away fingerprint oils, polishing media and dust before it becomes a problem with the connector or cable. The wipes are packaged in a compact pull-out tub with an octagonal top that keeps the package from rolling if dropped. Each wipe is 4" x 2", which is the perfect size for cleaning ?bers without waste. Each mini-tub contains 90 perforated lint-free wipes.
