Slip Ring Series with Through-Bore Design

Slip Ring Series with Through-Bore Design

Moog Components Group offers a complete line of slip rings that provide solutions for moving data and power from a stationary structure to a rotating device. The company has recently added a new 1-inch through-bore model that expands this series of slip rings. Bore sizes of 1, 1-1/2, 2-3/4 and 4 inches are now available for transfer of signals and power up to 50 amps, 600 volts.

The new unit provides a 1-inch through-bore for routing of hydraulic or pneumatic lines and a compact 3-inch outside diameter for minimal space applications. Fifteen amp circuits are availbable in 6, 12, 18 and 24 ring configurations in 4 housing lengths. The design utilizes fiber brush contact technology.

A slip ring can be used in any electro-mechanical system that requires unrestrained, continuous rotation while transmitting power and/or data from a stationary to a rotating structure. A slip ring is also called a rotary electrical interface, collector, swivel or rotary joint. The slip ring can improve system performance by simplifying operations and eliminating damage-prone wires dangling from movable joints. Many Moog Component Group designs use fiber brush technology that offers several advantages over conventional slip ring contacts, including multiple points of contact per brush bundle, low contact force per fiber, low noise and low contact wear rates. In addition, fiber brushes do not require lubrication and produce virtually no wear debris.

Moog Component Group slip rings go through extensive life testing and are designed and manufactured to offer long life and less downtime. Key features are 360 degree rotation, low noise, compact size and maintenance-free operation. Standard, off-the-shelf designs are available for quick delivery. Models can also be modified for customer-specific requirements. Applications include: medical equipment, machining centers, robotics and test equipment.
