The SR Joint is a rigid, high accuracy ball or rotary joint for Photonics mechanisms and Parallel Robotics such as hex-a-pods.
Available in a wide variety sizes, the SR Joint has either 1um or 2.5um of backlash making the SRJ suitable for use as a precision linkage or joint in demanding mechanical structures or highly accurate positioning systems.
The moving parts have very low frictional resistance due to the rolling joint structure assembled under preload, resulting in high precision rotation with virtually zero backlash.
Use of the SRJ results in considerable size reduction compared to other joints with multiple degrees of freedom
Joints combining rolling bearings to produce 3 degrees of freedom, however the SR Joint has higher rigidity and a drastically smaller size.
