Star Micronics has succeeded in developing the ultra-compact and thin reflowable magnetic sounder, "NFT-03D", for release in this April.

The NFT-03D (5.0(W)×5.0(L)×2.0(H)mm) is a successor to the current NFT-03C (5.0(W)×5.0(L)×3.0(H)mm) which has been extensively used for operation sound for various applications such as portable audio devices. This successor features the same performance as the NFT-03C, but is 1mm thinner. The NFT-03D is reflowable, which is a must for automated mass-production, and complies with the European environmental standards (RoHS Directive). It is expected that there will be a huge demand for this new product in the electronics equipment markets, including remote controls, thermometers, pedometers and digital cameras in addition to portable audio devices, where the thinner and more compact is desirable.
The NFT-03D offers great advantages in terms of sound pressure level (SPL), size and installation costs over the conventional piezoelectric sounders which still have a lead problem. This sounder fully embodies our technical and development expertise, providing a tone quality suitable for use as auditory alarms, which allows even senior users to clearly hear.
