Previously, the hot forging process was used for long length anchors, but the quality was poor, and it was a very costly secondary operation. Cold forming produces a net shape without any waste, and also produces very good surface finish as the wire is drawn down going into the header. The cold forming process has very high production speeds, and the anchors drop out complete without the need for a secondary operation, yielding a very low cost product. The extra long length gives architects and engineers more design freedom, and saves contractors time and money by eliminating the need to "piggy back" two shorter studs on top of one another to get the desired stud length.
