These microchip lasers are quite popular for rangefinding and lidar instruments. They are ultra-compact and attractively priced. Eneregies up to 15uJ's at 10kHz with a 1ns pulsewidth at 1064nm is the most common. Higher rep rates with reduced energies, lower rep rates with increased energies, and amplied units are all possible as well.
