Most installations use large rigid or semi rigid coaxial cable down lead on the tower. A transition to a more flexible and smaller cable is frequently made to go to the cabinet or inside the cabinet. This protector will allow downsizing the conductor and protect against transients.

This best-in-class SurgeGuard™ gas tube lightning arrestor family is designed to maximize protection and expedite installation. NexTek PTRONF7AF protectors not only protect the coaxial line from transients, but provide a convenient and compact way to transition from semi-rigid or corrugated to flexible or braided jumpers. The SurgeGuard™ PTRONF7AF family is a gas tube lightning arrestor that transitions from rugged 7-16 to the more compact N-type connector. A 7-16 DIN female is provided for connection to the larger coaxial cable, and an N female is available for connection of the internal jumper. The operating frequency of the PTR series is optimized for high performance to 2.2 GHz.

The PTRONF7AF exhibits additional industry-leading performance, including 10x multiple strike capability @ 20kA, and one-time 50kA (8x20μs) surge capability, bi-directional protection and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +90°C. The PTR series provides DC pass capability with a typical IM3 rating of -120dBc.

Able to withstand harsh environmental conditions with an industry leading IP68 rating, the high reliability PTR series is both rugged and water proof, featuring gold plated contacts for long life applications. The N connector bulkhead threads can be used to attach a grounding wire, through a bulkhead, or to a mounting bracket. Replaceable heavy duty protector capsules are available in voltages of 90V to 1000V, as required for RF power.
