Within a similar time-frame Nicos Polymers was developing systems to separate valuable plastic reclaim from flexible, fiber reinforced substrates. Separation techniques were perfected for products such as vinyl roofing, garden hose, and flooring. This enabled Nicos Polymers to return tens of millions of pounds of PVC from previously discarded products back to the original equipment manufacturers for use back into those same products. This unique capability along with other more common polymer recycling processes allowed Nicos to assemble the largest enterprise for plastics recycling tolling (the reprocessing of plastics on behalf of manufacturers as opposed to the company's own account) on the east coast of the United States. Additionally, the company was able to offer the reclaimed plastic not utilized by the OEMs to other willing buyers.
