Northland makes Custom Brushless DC motors and custom series wound DC Universal motors.
The Northland approach is to provide their customers with a motor specifically for their product. Since they do not have a catalog, they do not attempt to give you a standard motor to partially meet your needs. By creating a custom motor and winding, Northland can assure that the motor runs at its optimum, at your load point. This results in the highest efficiency possible while reducing size and cost. The mechanical features of the motor also are designed to result in total lowest cost such as integrating the motor endbell into the product. This approach requires OEM volumes starting at 5,000 to 10,000 units per year depending on the motor type. By working as a partner with you, Northland provides not only the right motor, but invaluable expertise in other design areas including materials, agency approval issues, air flow, vibration and control.
