A manufacturer of gaming machines switched from mechanical lever slot machines to new push button electronic slot machines. They didn't realize that people enjoyed the excitement generated by pulling down the lever handle of the slot machine and the sound it made. Orders for the new slot machines were dropping off because people were not using them as much.

The problem was how to emulate the feel and sound of the old lever pull machine without affecting the functionality of the electronic machines. The manufacturer turned to Perry Tool & Research to design two parts that would be integrated into the new electronic machines. One part gave the feel of the lever handle being pulled while the other part made the sound of the tumblers spinning. Once installed on the electronic machines, these parts gave gamblers a choice. They could use the electronic push buttons or they could pull the lever handle and experience the same feeling as with the old mechanical machines.
