The Powder Metal Process gives you the flexibility to produce a gear to your exact design specifications. By choosing the Powder Metal Process a manufacturer of gear drives was able to design a segment gear that reduced the cost of the part by eliminating extra material that would be lost to machining.

Perry Tool and Research added the holes to the design of the gear. This saved an additional 9% in the cost of the raw material and still maintained the integrity of the gear. The manufacturer also incorporated into the design positive stops at both ends of the gear allowing for the use of a more economical drive, saving additional cost on the assembly.
