Prototype Casting, Inc., a long time provider of high quality aluminum, magnesium, and zinc prototype castings, is pleased to announce the addition of magnesium investment casting to our current line of services which include rubber plaster mold, RPM, and precision or "no bake" air set sand casting.

We have recently added a Projet CP3000 wax pattern production system with a print envelope of approximately 11 x 8.5 x 7 inches. Once a pattern is printed, the pattern is connected to a tree and covered with slurry. The slurry covered mold and tree are then placed into a furnace to "burn out" the wax pattern and molten metal is poured into the void created. This casting process will allow us to ship you a small number of castings, depending on geometry and complexity, in as little as 3 days. The minimum casting wall thickness for aluminum is approximately .040 and the minimum wall thickness for magnesium is .080. We will soon be expanding our investment casting capabilities with the addition of a new induction furnace, currently on order, allowing us to offer brass, bronze, and stainless steel in the near future.
