QPS Photronics is proud to announce our HPS Fiber Gratings Sensor systems for Condition Monitoring.

The Fiber Gratings VibroFibre™ and HPS systems together represent a new technology platform. The technology is ideally suited for the remote and distributed sensing of critical assets and equipment especially in the hostile environment. It is built on the proven low loss and reliable fiber optics technology, where optical networks have been deployed in the telecom industry and are expected to work for more than 25 years. Behind the VibroFibre™ and HPS system is a patent pending Edge Demultiplexing Technology (EDM) and a passive optical amplifier built into the sensor heads. These sensor heads can be custom designed to be of different size, weight, and frequency response and sensitivities. Further more, they can be mounted on hard to reach places to monitor machine vibration, capture acoustic emissions and perform dynamic strain measurement. Standard sensor heads work well in the normal temperature range. Special sensors can be designed and manufactured to work up to 350 degrees C. These types of requirement would be hard to do for normal electrical strain gauges and MEMS. The VibroFibre™ will operate well at these unusually high temperature found in chemical process pipes and joints. The inherent advantages of the technology are built into our Technology because of the inert characteristics of the optical fiber.

HPS 1600 is a system specially designed for SEW application for a full turbine. Typical configuration would be two sets of 3 pairs of SEW sensors, one pair on each phase circuit, separated exactly by 120 degrees, measuring both the radial and tangential vibrations. While one set of these 3 pairs would be mounted on the driving end, another 3 pairs will be mounted on the non driving end. This will take care of the main monitoring function and use up 12 of the available 16 channels. Advanced customers might want to study vibration signal changes during start up and ramp down, then they would install 2 SEW sensors in the Z direction. The 2 remaining channel can be dedicated to temperature measurement at the windings where by design, will receive the maximum load. QPS can support any customer configurations, contact our application engineer to discuss your concern and what might be best for you. There is no obligation.

HPS 800 has all the same features and specifications as HPS 1600 except that it has only 8 channels. On the other hand, HPS400 has 4 channels and designed for general purpose rotating machine.
