Res-Kem's Uni-Tech Greensand Filter units are available in a wide range of self-contained packages configured in single, double, or multiple unit arrangements to remove dissolved iron and manganese. Res-Kem Uni-Tech Greensand Filters utilize Greensandplus media. Typically, Greensand Filters are limited to applications where the combined iron and manganese concentration is below 15 ppm.
A single Greensand Filter unit is rated for flows up to 577 gpm. For larger flow rates, larger or multiple Greensand Filters would be appropriate.

Advantages of Res-Kem Greensand Filter Systems:
Economical and efficient, a Res-Kem Uni-Tech Greensand Filter can be equipped for manual, semi-automatic, or full-automatic operation. Regardless of the configuration, only limited technical expertise is required for operation. Res-Kem Uni-Tech Greensand Filters will integrate into a complete water treatment system without expensive custom field engineering and programming. Greensandplus has a finite capacity for contaminant removal and must be regenerated using chlorine.
Why use a Greensand Filter?
Soluble iron (Fe++) and manganese (Mn) are removed from water to avoid staining, interference with process applications and to meet drinking water regulations. Iron staining generally occurs at levels greater than 0.5 ppm. Manganese stains are black or very dark brown in color and will occur at levels greater than 0.03 ppm. Both contaminants are considered secondary drinking water contaminants by the EPA and are not regulated.
National Secondary Drinking Water Regulations are non-enforceable guidelines regarding contaminants that may cause cosmetic effects, such as skin or tooth discoloration, or aesthetic effects, such as taste, odor, or color, in drinking water. EPA recommends secondary standards to water systems but does not require systems to comply. However, some states may choose to adopt them as enforceable standards.
