SKF Multilog DMx puts machine protection and condition monitoring on the skid
Traditionally, the complexity of vibration measurements has kept continuous monitoring system electronics in the control room, away from machine skids. While the sensors alone have been the only intrinsically safe option, the system as a whole has had drawbacks.
The 19” rack-mounted systems require bulky cabinets to be placed in a safe area some distance from the skid, and many hard-to-manage, low-voltage cables to send signals to and from the control room. Both requirements increase installation and maintenance costs.
SKF Multilog DMx is a fully featured API-670 class monitor suitable for locating in Zone 1 and conventional areas. Four-channel vibration monitoring and on-board proximity probe drivers allow processing requirements, from transducer to dynamic data, to be fulfilled safely on the machine skid.
Along with combining protection and condition monitoring in one device, the SKF Multilog DMx features a small design footprint and distributed architecture. In addition, by performing monitoring processing on the machine, close to the sensors, it replaces many low-voltage signal cables with one or two digital protocol cables. The system is compatible with a range of SKF portable and on-line measurement devices.
