Product Announcement from SKF/North America
SKF® rubber V-ring shaft seals provide primary or backup sealing solutions
Offering flexibility and versatility
SKF® V-ring shaft seals for rotating machinery can be applied either as a primary or backup sealing solution and can additionally be combined with other components to create a highly effective sealing system. These all-rubber seals mount directly on a shaft and serve to retain lubricant, exclude contaminants, and promote longer bearing service life. A long flexible lip design provides added protection against contamination by acting as a slinger.
Typical applications include machinery for the appliance, packaging, steel, machine tool, metalworking, and paper industries, among others. The seals are engineered to perform especially well in dry applications and can handle a greater amount of eccentricity and misalignment than most radial lip type seals.
By integrating a V-ring seal with an existing standard seal and Speedi-Sleeve® shaft wear sleeve as part of a comprehensive sealing system, users can further manage and enhance levels of contaminant exclusion in the most demanding applications.
V-ring seals are available in five basic styles and sizes ranging from .110 in. (2.79mm) to 79.134 in. (2010mm). Design variations include:
• Wider body and tapered heel to more firmly hold the ring on a shaft
• Narrower axial cross-section ideally suited to replace labyrinth seals in pillow-blocks, and
• Large diameter types fitted with a standard clamping band for secure axial fixation in high-speed applications
Custom versions, including seals to accommodate especially large shaft sizes, can be developed to meet application needs.
