The Fluid-trac™ 3-wire ultrasonic sensor is a cost-competitive alternative to sensors providing voltage output for control modules or electronic dash cluster gauges. The Fluid-trac 3-wire sensor is programmable from 0.3 to 7 Vdc.
Fluid-trac™ uses ultrasonic technology to generate a high-frequency sound wave and measures the time for the echo to reflect off of the target fluid and return. The distance from the sensor to the fluid is calculated based on the speed of sound. The measured distance is converted into a voltage based on a strapping table contained in the sensor. Fluid-trac™ has no moving parts and is not submersed in the fluid to be measured. Measures tank depths from 5 to 32 inches. The sonic dead band is two inches from the face of the sensor. It is very accurate at ±0.125 inches (1/8th inch) and has resolution of 0.07 inches.
Fluid-trac™ is designed to meet operating temperature ranges from –40°C up to +85°C and is engineered for mobile or stationary tanks and containers. It is housed in a highdensity polyethlyne package with standard Packard MetriPack connector. Fluid-trac™ is mounted using a standard SAE 5-hole bolt pattern and has an acoustic cone angle of ±6 degrees. The sensor should be mounted perpendicular to the surface of the target liquid for maximum effectiveness.
