Schneeberger, Inc. announces longer length capabilities for their line of precision linear guideways known as MINIRAIL. Long carriages are now available in four standard sizes: 7, 9, 12, and 15. Additionally, Schneeberger now has the manufacturing capability to offer single piece rail lengths up to 1000mm in all standard and wide MINIRAIL sizes.

The Schneeberger MINIRAIL series is a family of robust, two-row miniature guideways made from stainless steel, ideal for compact environments. Two accuracy grades and two preload categories are available.

New MINIRAIL Long Carriages, MNNL in sizes 7, 9, 12, and 15mm offer the following advantages:

  • 50% higher load ratings
  • Greater moment load capability
  • Smoothest running characteristics

New Standard Rail, Maximum Lengths:

MN 7, up to 1000 mm
MN 9, up to 995 mm
MN 12, up to 995 mm
MN 15, up to 990 mm

New Wide Rail, Maximum Lengths:

MN 14, up to 980 mm
MN 18, up to 980 mm
MN 24, up to 990 mm
MN 42, up to 990 mm

The only thing short about Schneeberger MINIRAIL is lead time. Responding to robust global demand for this product, Schneeberger recently doubled its MINIRAIL manufacturing capacity. Prototype quantities are typically available off the shelf, and initial production quantities within just a few short weeks.

Unlike many conventional miniature guides, the MINIRAIL carriage can be safely removed from its guide without balls falling out. An advanced ball-retainer design simplifies installation and maintenance, reducing total cost of implementation and increasing application versatility. MINIRAIL carriages are also interchangeable, no rail matching required. The large number of load-bearing balls provide the carriages with high permissible load values and torque. Schneeberger offers its own re-lubrication set as well. Two lubrication ports are located at each end of the carriage for easy maintenance.

Each carriage includes wipers on each end to prevent contamination and help retain lubricant inside the carriage. For clean environments, wipers can be easily removed by hand, no tools required. Without wipers, MINIRAIL can be operated in high vacuum down to 10-7 mbar.

Schneeberger MINIRAIL is capable to speeds of 5m/s and accelerations of 300m/s². Typical operating temperatures are -40°C to +80°C. Short-term temperatures up to 120°C are possible.
