Product Announcement from seepex, Inc.
New BTM Chopper Pump Features Secondary Cutter
seepex, Inc. has developed a new type of open hopper, range BTM, progressive cavity pump which can chop or cut fruits, vegetables or fibrous materials and simultaneously pump them. Available in stainless steel, it can shred and pump certain materials such as potatoes, apples and most citrus fruits without needing additional fluids. It is also highly desirable for macerating meat and vegetable waste, often eliminating the need for expensive conveying systems.
New is the patented secondary cutter, a recommended option for juice producers who want a finer grind on fruit before pressing or extraction operations. This combination replaces hammer mills and conveyors for a more compact, cleaner, and sterile operation. It is also less expensive than traditional hammer mill/conveyor systems. Pump hoppers can be constructed in special lengths to fit other process equipment and can be coated with Rilsan®, Halar® or a variety of rubber compounds.
The pump is equipped with an auger-type coupling rod in the open hopper. The auger feeds material into a compression zone/extension tube between the hopper and the progressive cavity elements at a rate greater than the rated capacity of the pump. Knives are fixed to the rotating auger and the stationary extension tube. They can be easily replaced, sharpened or adjusted. The design is covered by international patents (3833515.8-23).
