Moxa's NPort S8455I-MM-SC is an advanced industrial serial device server that also incorporates a fully-featured 5-port managed Ethernet switch. Combining these oft-used functions into a single package results in multiple savings – in cabinet space, power consumption, and cost. The NPort S8455I-MM-SC features 2 fiber Ethernet ports, 3 Ethernet ports, and 4 RS-232/422/485 serial ports. Use it for data communication applications where cabinet space can be tight, such as traffic monitoring and control, solar power systems, and windmill power systems.

Complete Serial Device Server Functions
The NPort S8455I-MM-SC provides all the advanced device server functions supported by Moxa's NPort 5000 series. With only minimal configuration, up to 4 serial devices can be connected to the network. Data can be transmitted in both directions between the serial and Ethernet interfaces.

Complete Managed Ethernet Switch Functions
The NPort S8455I-MM-SC incorporates a fully-featured managed Ethernet switch that supports QoS, IGMP-snooping/GMRP, VLAN, Port Trunking, SNMPv1/v2c/v3, and IEEE 802.1X, allowing you to handle virtually any kind of Ethernet networking application. For increased reliability and network availability, the NPort S8455I-MM-SC supports Ethernet redundancy through RSTP/STP (IEEE 802.1w/D) or Moxa's own Turbo Ring® technology, which can recover from network failure within 20 ms.

Ring Coupling for Distributed Applications
For large or widely distributed sites, it may not be convenient to use a single ring to achieve network redundancy. The NPort S8455I-MM-SC supports Turbo Ring's "Ring Coupling" function, which can be used to connect distributed devices between different redundant rings, without requiring a control line.

˙UL 508 safety
To meet critical application requirements, the NPort S8455I-MM-SC has been certified to meet national and international UL 508 standards. UL 508 covers the safety requirements for industrial control equipment.

˙3-way surge protection
The NPort S8455I-MM-SC is equipped with surge protection that safeguards power, Ethernet, and serial connections from voltage spikes.

˙Level 4 ESD
The NPort S8455I-MM-SC supports high-level 8/15 KV ESD protection to protect against static electricity.

˙2 KV serial isolation protection
Each serial port includes 2 KV isolation protection that guards against the high voltages that can result from differences in ground potential between points in a communications system.
