SHEPARD NILES IS PROUD TO OFFER OUR CUSTOMERS A REBUILDING/REFURBISHING PACKAGE. THIS PACKAGE WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING SERVICES AND PARTS FOR A STANDARD SHEPARD NILES HOIST. A STANDARD SHEPARD NILES HOIST IS A BASE MOUNTED OR LUG SUSPENDED AND EITHER A CLOSE HEADROOM OR STANDARD HEADROOM HOIST WITH A STANDARD DC DIRECT ACTING BRAKE.

WE REQUIRE THAT ANY HOIST UNIT SENT IN FOR EVALUATION, BE A COMPLETE ASSEMBLY. THIS ENSURES THAT WE ARE ABLE TO COMPLETE YOUR REBUILDING REQUEST AND MEET TESTING REQUIREMENTS IN A THOROUGH AND TIMELY FASHION.

FOR HOIST GEAR END FRAMES

1. Verify and identify original Hoist serial number and order number

2. Tear down all assemblies completely.

3. Clean and inspect all items for wear and document items required for replacement.

4. Replace all bearings, seals, gaskets and friction linings

5. Advise customer of any additional items recommended for replacement and the associated cost.

6. Clean up all reusable items.

7. Lubricate new bearings and seals during reassembly.

8. Oil coat friction liners prior to installation.

9. Ensure proper timing of compound gearing during reassembly.

10. Replace/fill with oil to required level (use Kendall Special API GL-5 Gear oil, Limited slip axle, SAE 80W-90).

11. Adjust mechanical and electric brake for operation.

12. Load test 125%, record motor amps and drum speed.

HOIST MOTOR

1. Tear down, clean and inspect.

2. Run surge test and Hi-pot test on unit to check motor winding integrity.

3. Replace motor bearings

4. Resurface slip rings and/or commutators if present.

5. Replace brushes if present

6. Check for Rotor eccentricity, resurface and balance as required.

7. Spray or brush windings with insulating varnish.

8. Replace motor leads and re-label wires as required

9. Reassemble; test motor at full load and at 200% load and record data by motor serial number.

10. Replace nameplates if required.

CONTACTOR CONTROL (If returned)

1. Clean and inspect contactors and resistors (if supplied)

2. Look for damaged electrical components and wiring

3. Add/replace plastic wire ties as required

4. Check for loose fittings/hardware

5. Advise customer if any electrical components must be replaced.

6. Retest contactor sequence of panel

7. Replace original electrical drawings (If it is a Shepard Niles Control)

SOLID STATE CONTROL (If originally supplied by Shepard Niles and returned with Hoist)

1. Clean and inspect for damaged electrical components and wiring

2. Add/replace plastic wire ties as required

3. Check for loose fittings/hardware

4. Retest panel with small motor

5. Advise customer if any electrical components must be replaced.

6. Replace labels if required

7. Replace original electrical drawings

LOAD BLOCKS AND TACKLE

1. Disassemble completely

2. Inspect Hook, Sheaves, Block, Covers and Cable assembly for wear.

3. Replace all bearings

4. Advise customer if hook, sheaves or cable assembly needs to be replaced due to wear and estimated cost associated with replacing these parts.

5. Clean, reassemble and paint.

NOTE: Prior to shipment, all Hoists will be fully tested and will have a new coat of High Visibility Yellow Enamel Paint applied and be re-skidded for safe return shipping.

Each completely refurbished unit will also have a one year warranty on all parts that were replaced during the rebuilding.

Standard delivery time for a rebuild/refurbish will be 6 to 8 weeks.

THE FOLLOWING ARE ITEMS THAT MAY REQUIRE EXTRA WORK AND ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE BASIC REBUILD/REFURBISHMENT PRICE.

1. Unusually dirty hoists requiring special cleaning.

2. Excessive wear on drums, sheaves, hooks, body pieces, gear end frames, etc.

3. Special paint requests/requirements such as Epoxy.

4. Extremely large hoists, special reeving or brake requirements and special wiring needs.

5. Rewinding or Replacement of Motor(s).
