Sherwin-Williams Industrial & Marine Coatings announces two new, innovative solutions to the damage moisture vapor emissions (MVE) can cause to seamless flooring installed over concrete. The company's General Polymers FasTop® MVT MOISTURE CONTROL SYSTEM and AquArmor™ Flooring Systems solve MVE challenges.
When seamless flooring is installed over concrete, changing temperature and humidity conditions drive MVE through porous concrete slabs, often resulting over time in disbonding and blistering of the impermeable flooring material. FasTop MVT is a waterborne, low odor, self-leveling system that provides outstanding MVE protection under any flooring, including terrazzo and resinous floors, even in constantly wet environments. It offers rapid return to service, faster recoat times, and can be applied to lower temperature substrates (as low as 40°F.)
FasTop MVT may be used for moisture vapor remediation, as an underlayment for impermeable flooring systems, and for repairing and leveling deteriorated concrete at 1/8" to provide moisture resistance.
AquArmor Flooring Systems are engineered using a revolutionary new water-based resin technology. Offering 100 times the permeability of standard epoxy floor systems, they can be used underneath any flooring, including terrazzo and resinous floors, or as a stand-alone system. AquArmor has zero-VOCs and these low odor coatings even can be applied to "green" concrete without taking moisture readings, they allow for longer working time at the jobsite, and they are easy to install. AquArmor stand-alone systems include a coating, a 1/16" to 1/8" slurry, and a ¼" trowel-applied mortar. The system accepts any other General Polymers residential flooring topcoat.
