Air discharge testing, which is affected by numerous variable factors, is a widely adopted test method, since the actual ESD events in the field are air discharges. In the contact discharge method, the discharge current rise extremely quickly, approximately 1ns, independent of ESD charge voltage.
In addition, the proportional relationship between the ESD charge voltages and current peaks can be obtained, allowing the engineer to define the ESD susceptibility of the equipment under test in terms of charge voltage. This simulator is designed to conduct both contact and air discharge testing.
Two models ESS-2000AX and ESS-2002EX are available. The ESS-2002EX is the basic model with a built-in discharge counter and time controller. ESS-2000AX is the fully programmable menu-driven simulator enabling uses to carry out tests in a more automated manner, and controlled by PC via several interfaces.
