The Smith & Loveless PISTA Grit Removal System maintains the
highest proven grit removal efficiencies over a wide range of daily
flows because of its exclusive forced vortex design. These proven
efficiencies originate from the PISTA's innovative hydraulic design,
including its unique flat-floor, engineered baffle arrangements, and
low-energy, axial flow propeller. The combination creates a true vortex
which effectively separates grit from organics in the waste stream.
The PISTA Grit Chamber removes grit and other discrete particles,
separates organics and inorganics, and reduces grit accumulation in
downstream basins, channels, weirs and piping. This results in reduced
wear on mechanical equipment. Minimum space is required for
installation, and it boasts low overall installation, operation and
maintenance costs.
Complete grit pumping, dewatering and washing components are
available. Individual units handle flows from 0.5 MGD to 100 MGD /
1,900 to 378,500 cubic meters per day. Multiple units can be arranged.
