See Product Details

StellarNet and Kigre have indroduced a truely portable element analyzer to identify compounds for a variety of industrial applications including defense and security for chemical, biological, soil, metals, forensics, and other material analysis. The PORTA-LIBS-2000 instrument integrates portable spectrometers made by StellarNet (Tampa, Florida) and Kigres' (Hilton Head, SC) nanosecond pulsed, Nd:YAG NIR Laser that delivers 6 MegaWatts to create a plasma. The portable instrument case is just 18 x 14 x 7 inches and operates via 12 volt adapter or battery, with two high resolution spectrometers. Depending on detection requirements, up to 8 spectrometers can be attached via USB-2 computer interface.

Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy or LIBS has become the common acronym for element detection using laser plasma. This permits real-time qualitative identification of trace elements in solids, gases, and liquids using optical detection of elemental emission spectra. Using this technique, little or no sample preparation is required and calibration-free quantitative analysis is possible without matrix effects.

The SpectraWiz software provides element identification via spectral database for qualitative measurements. Samples are quickly measured and saved to a text log-file. Compound element libraries can be created and searched. Customizable programs are also included to operate directly from Excel+VBA and LabVIEW.
