StellarNet, Inc. has announced new spectroscopy software for Visual Basic Automation that integrates directly with MS-Excel spreadsheets. SpectraWiz-VBA acquires spectral data directly from the companies miniature UV-VIS-NIR fiber optic spectrometers. VBA source code is included to allow creation of custom applications within Excel to perform spectral analysis in real-time.

Basic features allow a user to acquire a dark, reference, and sample spectrum independently at the push of a button. Once acquired, the software calculates and plots absorbance continuously. Detector integration time, scans to average, spectral smoothing, and temperature compensation can all be controlled from within Excel. The portable spectrometers are packaged in small rugged enclosures with SMA905 fiber optic input, and attach directly to high speed IEEE1284 parallel or USB-2 ports.
