Alstom's Stoker Grate Drive System is a variable speed electro-mechanical drive that utilizes high-efficiency planetary gearing to deliver high torque/low speed rotational energy to the stoker drive shaft.
Features
Flexible design enables the drive to meet the requirements of nearly all traveling grate brands and models
Variable speed allows for automatic operation with plant control system
Continuous drive shaft torque monitoring provides real-time data related to grate reaction loads and potential trouble
Electronic overload protection provides safety shut-off of drive unit in grate overload situation
Tachometer provides continuous grate speed indication as well as "Zero-Speed" alert if the motor is tripped
Drive systems available with standard equipment package
NEMA rated local control panel houses all necessary controls for the drive to function as a stand alone unit as well as interface terminations for complete control from and feedback to the boiler control system
The control panel is shop wired, programmed, and test run with the drive prior to shipment
Tachometer and torque displays show grate speed in ft/hr and grate torque in ft-lbs
The above instruments provide programmable zero-speed and over-torque settings for local alarm indication and analog (4-20 mA) signals and feedback to the boiler control system
Blower-cooled motor also cools the initital gearbox reduction
Customer-specific equipment changes can be provided
Benefits
Loading on drive shaft and drive-end bearings are reduced with Alstom's shaft-mounted, floor-supported design
Installation time is reduced with the shaft-mounted design
Preventive maintenance can be improved with analysis of drive speed and torque data
Operators are alerted that the grate drive has stopped via the "Zero-Speed" indicator
Unforeseen emergency grate maintenance and boiler downtime is reduced via continuous torque monitoring (CTM) that provides critical information to operators much earlier than visual inspection
Tracking ad trending of grate wear for improved predictive maintenance can be accomplished by transmitting the data collected by CTM to the plant;s DCS (distributed control system)
Increasing Your Competitive Edge
