Storage Battery Systems developed the SR Series to replace legacy so called 20 year VRLA batteries in UPS runtime applications. The SR batteries are also typically used in nuclear power stations & process control systems. The lead-selenium design provides all the advantages of calcium & antimony models without the limitations resulting in miniscule internal corrosion, longer service life (25 yrs); tolerance to rapid cycling & expanded surface areas for high rate discharging. A radial plate construction resists plate expansion, positive "plate growth" & aids an increased service life. Thermal polymer insulators are injection molded over copper intercell connectors to provide low terminal corrosion & present a zero hazardous voltage to personnel. Flame arrestor vent caps are protected by a removable dust cover & recessed vent well contains any spillage for easy clean-up. Brass post inserts are triple-sealed to prevent leakage & offer lower terminal resistance. Capacities range from 35A/h to 150A/h in 12v jars & 200 A/h to 250A/h in 6v jars. Some UPS VRLA battery cabinets can even be easily modified to accept these flooded batteries. These flooded batteries utilize a posi-seal 100% leak proof "VARTA type" post design. The SR is ideal for Utility substation recloser & other 125vdc circuits as well as the higher dc bus associated with three phase uninterruptible power systems.
