The T.M.T. lift-and-shift transfer lines feature:

  • short cycle times
  • low noise ( typically 25dBa below comparable steel rail system)
  • virtually no maintenance and a limited quantity of spare parts required
  • Energy Effeciency due to low inertia/system mass
  • suitable for operation in particularly contaminated environmental conditions
  • Global Service and Support

The Speedy Rail® shuttle bars are light aluminium alloy profiles coated with a hard coat with a high resistance to wear and to welding splatters:

  • Hardness: 700 Hv
  • Melting Point: 2100 degrees C

The roller assemblies are self-aligning and obtain a uniform distribution of the loads on the rollers. The rollers are coated with a plastic compound in order to obtain low operating noise and to avoid wear on the shuttle bars. The rollers bearings are "lubricated for life" with a synthetic grease for a life of at least 10 years.

The systems are composed of modular elements which are pre-assembled before shipping in order to limit assembly work on site.

The assembly operation is extremely simple and can be accomplished in a short time. The items required in order to join the modular mechanical components are a small number of Standard M12 Bolts. As an example, the assembly of a 10 station transfer line (total length 70 m) has been accomplieshed with as little as 160 man/hours.

The precision of the manufactured parts and their assembly assures exact machine geometry; which avoids overload conditins on mechanical parts and excessive power requirements of the drive motors.

During final assembly, the T.M.T. modular concept avoids the use of optical instruments. The T.M.T. modular elements have a reference for perfect auto-alignment with precision better than 0,1 mm.

A Brushless Servo control system allows the cycle times, accelerations and deceleration rates to be changed quickly and easily, adding flexibility and the ability to easily re-tool a transfer line.

Normally the lifting is achieved through articulated levers connected by draw-bars.

Low profile lifts down to 650mm tall are available for low pass heights with out the need for a pit. It is also feasable to obtain lift movements through vertical – excursion – racks, connected by draw-bars.

The horizontal movement is achieved by the rack and pinion method using gear boxes and brushless motors.

For protection from damage due to accidents, T.M.T. transfer lines are equipped with mechanical torque and load limiters in addition to electrical stroke limit switches.

On the shifting drive there is steel bushing with a calibrated hydraulic expansion control.

The lifting is provided with a traction and compression limiter.

The balancing of the lifting load is normally achieved with hydro-pneumatic balances.

The dimensions of a transfer line "Lift & Carry" make it difficult to present it at an exhibition; therefore T.M.T. has fitted a display unit in its facility in Piacenza, Italy to provide interested companies the possibility of examining a functioning system. The display is a 5 station transfer line "Lift & Carry"; each station has a 6 meter stroke and the line carries 4 complete bodies-in-white of the BMW Series 3 model.

The total length of the line is of 36 meters and the cycle-times are among the shortest ever obtained: only 3 seconds for a 6 meter sliding.

With this display T.M.T. can give customers the opportunity of examining each constructive detail and the performances of its lines. As with all T.M.T. transfers, the display line also features the manual motion systems for emergency situations, comprised of the hydraulic slave cylinders that can be easily connected to each lifting unit and are driven through a portalble hydraulic service pump.

These auxillary systems allow the lifting of each station can be controlled manually, independently from the others; it is also possible to control more than one station at the same time.

For the horizontal transfer manual control is provided through a hand-wheel attached to an auxillary output shaft on the planetary drive.

These manual devices are extremely useful during the assembly of the line, the maintenance operations and to make sure that the production continues also in case of failure of motors or drives. For obvious reasons this feature is greatly appreciated by the customers.

T.M.T. will be glad to facilitate a visit to its factory for interested customers.
