If you manufacture one-of-a-kind equipment, are relocating existing equipment to a new facility, have purchased used equipment or have equipment without proper certification, you may need to comply with local electrical safety requirements.

Throughout the United States and Canada, many local jurisdictions will not allow unlisted / unlabeled equipment to be installed or used at manufacturing and commercial sites within their communities. If manufacturers are found to be using equipment in conflict with local electrical laws, they may be fined and/or shut down by OSHA or may not be allowed to energize their equipment by the local electrical inspectors.

TÜV America's field labeling services help manufacturers gain the appropriate electrical safety certification / listing requirements to be accepted by local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

We are responsive to your needs, providing fast, next-day service. The TÜV America field label is widely recognized by AHJs, resulting in a smoother and expedited field labeling of the equipment. Our on-site field assessment evaluations are performed to NFPA, UL, ANSI and CSA requirements and we are capable of providing field labeling services for electrical safety of:

  • Machinery
  • Medical Devices
  • IT Equipment
  • Laboratory Test & Measurement Equipment
  • Complete systems and assemblies
  • Other types of equipment in most jurisdictions throughout the US and Canada.

Why choose TÜV America?

Choose us for our fast turnaround, reputation and expertise. TÜV America engineers will visit your facility to perform a product evaluation. During this process, we will conduct a thorough inspection of your equipment and identify any problems that could cause harm to your employees or result in OSHA fines. We will then work with you to ensure that all necessary equipment is listed and labeled in accordance with local jurisdiction and OSHA requirements.

Field labeling applies to the following type of equipment:

  • Custom-built equipment for special applications.
  • Equipment manufactured on a non-repetitive basis.
  • Equipment sold in limited quantities.
  • Equipment not obtainable as "Certified" under a regular certification program.
  • Equipment already installed and awaiting acceptance by the regulatory authorities.
  • Complete systems or subassemblies.
  • Field-evaluated equipment that has been relocated.
  • Listed equipment that has been modified.
